Ian McLoone is a Partner in the Commercial Real Estate team at Taylor Walton. He advises a wide range of clients (both corporate and individuals) on a wide range of commercial and general property matters.
Ian was born and raised in Luton but he now lives in Hemel Hempstead. He attended University at the London School of Economics and then went on to do the Law Society’s finals exam at the College of Law.
Having obtained a training contract at Taylor Walton he then decided to specialise in Commercial Property as it was a challenging and growing field. Ian qualified as a Solicitor in 1999.
Current Role
Ian has been a Partner in the Real Estate Team for 7 years working alongside a team of 5 other specialist partners and 5 assistant solicitors. His portfolio includes both landlord and tenant clients on both general and specialist commercial property matters. His expertise also extends to site development work having worked for several local developers and also a number of individuals who hold large property portfolios. Ian prides himself on being reactive and pragmatic and has close relationships with his client base.
Ian also heads up the Leasehold Enfranchisement Unit which deals with lease extensions, lease enfranchisement and right to manage applications. Taylor Walton has developed a specialisation in this area including taking cases to the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal and has close links with local surveyors having similar specialities.
Ian also specialises in licensing matters, in particular the grant of Premises Licenses and ancillary applications such as variations and appeals in relation to the same.
Personal Outlook
Ian prides himself on a relatively relaxed and informal relationship with clients. His good rapport with his client base and seeks to use this to good effecting negotiations. He also has a pragmatic problem solving “hands on” approach.
Life outside of Taylor Walton
Ian is married to Tricia and enjoys community based charity work and involvement in local schools, dining out and cinema going.
