Alex is a Partner in the Private Client Department at Taylor Walton and works with a growing team, which offers a high quality service in the local area, as well as further afield. She offers specialist advice on a wide range of issues, including Wills, lifetime tax planning and Probate, to an extensive client base.
Alex graduated from Durham University and worked for Bird & Bird for over ten years, first as an Articled Clerk and then as a Solicitor. After having children, Alex moved to Sherrards Solicitors in St Albans, where she headed up the Private Client Department, becoming a Partner in 2004.
Alex joined Taylor Walton as a Partner in 2009, as she was keen to join a large Private Client team committed to providing an excellent client service specifically tailored to the needs of individuals.
Alex advises on all issues relating to Wills and estate planning (including Inheritance Tax), as well as applying for Grants of Probate and handling administration of estates. She also assists, as necessary, with advising the elderly client in relation to their affairs generally and, in particular, in relation to the preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney and their registration.
Alex prides herself on her clear straightforward advice and approachable manner. She is also committed to providing a consistently high standard of service. She has a good working relationship with referees and clients, many of whom have followed her through her change of firm.
Alex regularly acts as a Trustee or Executor, as well as an Attorney for existing clients. Alex took advantage of recent changes in the tax regulations to advise clients in relation to their existing Trusts and the most advantageous way forward.
One interesting case recently involved Alex acting as an Attorney for foreign heirs/administrators of a reclusive gentleman who had had his identity stolen before being murdered. There was therefore significant work involved in tracing and reclaiming assets, as well as involvement with the Police.
Leisure:
Alex enjoys spending time with her family, swimming and gardening. She also fills her time travelling, eating and drinking.
