Mergers & acquisitions

The mergers & acquisitions team has the strength in depth to handle a wide variety of acquisitions and disposals of businesses. By working closely with colleagues within the firm, notably banking & security, corporate finance, employment and commercial property a formidable project team can be fielded, often at short notice.

Many years of experience in acting for both sellers and buyers enables the M&A team to structure deals favourably, identify potential deal breakers early and strongly negotiate often complex contract provisions for the best available outcome.

For potential sellers, an exit strategy can be formulated in conjunction with other professional advisers including a client’s bankers and accountants, and other specialists in financial planning and trusts and succession planning. For example, a unified strategy might include a pre-sale reorganisation.

In the past 12 months the M&A team has successfully completed a wide variety of deals. These include transactions worth several million pounds in the motor, leisure, retail, media, technology and recruitment sectors, but the team is equally at home in other areas of industry.

Transactions are also undertaken in cases of business insolvency, where there is long experience of acting for either insolvency practitioners or buyers.

We are always open about fees and deadlines from the outset of any transaction.

To enquire about a pending or future business sale or purchase, or for more information about our M&A services, please email Jeremy Brockis or call on 01582 731161.
